I Love Turtles and They Love Me

Those are my new babies.  My uncle bought them from me at Chinatown- and my little cousin Lena took care of them for the whole day, on the subway and the ride back home.  I got them approximately on June 27th... so they're about a month old now.  They like to eat ALOT- and they currently live in a 30 gallon tank with 5 fish (one by one they disappear- I originally at 10) and a corrupt filter.  Morondo is a coward and like to run away from me whenever he sees me walk into the room.  Papi swims up to the glass to say hello to me every morning and to say good nite every night.  Papi has a white rim at the top of his shell and we are all convinced that he is the smart one.  He taught himself out to climb onto the "fake rock" basking area, where he can bask under the artifical sun that is my old desk lamp.  Morondo does too, but usually takes him a lot longer to get up there.  If he's not swimming, he is usually trying to dig under a rock where I can't see him.  I think he ate all the fish.  Turtles are messy and like to poop a lot... so they foul of the tank within a week and stink up my room like turtle shit.  Yeah, it kinda sucks, but being their new mother, I have unconditional love for them, and barely notice the smell.  Muahahahaha.  Anyways, the 5 -oops 4- fish keep them company. They like to take pictures.  They are just plain awesome.  Just dont' know how I'll bring them to school with me.

I have found a home for my TURTLES!!!
Peter has graciously adopted them, and now Papi and Morondo have a new home and a new daddy.  I bought 10 new fish for them to play with and torture and eventually eat.
I didn't realize how big they have grown, until I went into Chinatown with my cousins to buy them their turtles... my turtles are HUGE!!!  Dang yo.  My babies are growing so fast, and soon, they'll be off to Turtle College... aka, the Lake in Central Park.

Went to Albany and visited my two babies.  MY GOSH!! THEY ARE SO BIG!  Refer to picture above of my turtle climbing up on my cell phone. Okay... now they're big as or bigger than my cell phone!!
They were real active for a while, but Peter now reports back that they don't do much aside from sleeping... I'm worried.
Well, I'll be living with them for a week... so maybe I'll be able to raise their spirits, now that MOMMY'S back...

Papi and Morando are doing very well.  Peter has taken the liberty of redecorating the tank with beer bottles and some weird metal thing... as long as the turtles are still having fun, it's alllll good.  They didn't look much bigger, but they look happy. :)

Sometime in late December, Peter removed the turtles and placed them in the lake somewhere in Albany where they can start a new life.  Yes, I am very disheartened with the news, but Peter was moving out of his apt, so there was no other choice.  Unfortunately I was unable to see the turtles and there are no new pictures.  But yes, they were big boys last I remember.  I'm sure the rest of the house is glad they're gone, since the filter made a lot of noise and the turtles got smelly. :)  Thank you Peter for being their daddy for a while.
